Hardy Murchison is the founder, President, CEO and Director of Encino Energy, headquartered in Houston, Texas. Encino Energy is a private oil and gas acquisition, exploration, and production company. Encino Energy manages Encino Acquisition Partners (EAP), a partnership between Encino Energy and CPP Investments. In 2018, EAP closed its first acquisition, purchasing one million leasehold acres in the Utica Shale play of Ohio for $2 billion.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Murchison has helped grow and manage numerous companies. As Vice President of Corporate Development at Range Resources Corporation, he focused on acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, capital raising and investor relations. Mr. Murchison spent ten years at First Reserve Corporation, co-managing investments of $1.7 billion in oil and gas onshore in the United States, in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico and internationally. He started his career at Simmons & Company International.

Mr. Murchison earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard University. He serves on the boards of directors of the Ohio Business Roundtable, Coastal Conservation Association Texas Fund and of the American Exploration & Production Council, and is a member of the All American Wildcatters.
